X-ray K-absorption spactrum of three transition metal complexes of salicylic acid derivatives have been obtained using a bent crystal spectrograph of transmission type. The shapes of the edge have been discussed and covalent character and bond length of metal–ligand bonds have been determined using edge–shifts and fine structure data.
