Alignment of the Li 1s2s2p 2P excitation was studied for 50- to 400- keV H+ and He+ impact by measuring the angular distribution of the autoionization electrons. In the case of Coulomb excitation by H+ projectiles the experimental anisotropy parameters are interpreted on the basis of configuration-interaction calculation. For He+ induced alignment the influence of electron exchange is discussed within the framework of the Oppenheimer-Brinkman-Kramers approximation.
